MANY PATHS, ONE JOURNEY or WHEN YOU COME TO A FORK IN THE ROAD--TAKE IT!
Join us at DuBose Conference Center for our 2012 Tri-Diocesan gathering! The opening Eucharist will be held at Otey Parish, Sewanee; preacher will be The Rt. Rev. George D. Young III, East Tennessee. Our focus will be on stories of mission and ministry and we will explore a variety of ways that everyone can participate in mission, both at home and abroad.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
The Rev. Dr. Jo Bailey Wells, will provide some solid theological underpinnings for mission work, both at home and abroad. She is a priest of the Church of England and directs and teachers in Anglican Studies at Duke Divinity School. The conference focus coincides precisely with her areas of expertise, especially in relation to Old Testament studies. She also enjoys devotional writing, seeking to bring the fruits of biblical scholarship to a wider audience within the Church. "Dynamic..Captivating...my spiritual journey has been greatly enhanced…food for thought for eons" Judy Hines, UTO Coordinator, Diocese of Tennessee
MUSICIAN
Canon Organist-Choirmaster Scott Elsholz from St. Mary's Cathedral, Memphis will lead us in music . Scott has impressive academic credentials but he is also young, fun, lively, creative and enormously talented. He has a passion for empowering the people’s song and helping individuals and parishes discover their own unique song. Equally comfortable with Bach and bluegrass, Scott constantly seeks ways to enrich our worship through music from many styles and traditions. He currently lives in Memphis with his wife Melissa, daughter Clarabella, and terrier-mix dog Buxy. "In Scott, one senses God's creative power and the fun-loving spirit of the Almighty." Rebecca Chappell “…a brilliant and gifted musician whose musical genius will pierce your soul with sacred hymnody and tickle your toes with funk and soul and have you rocking in your seat with brilliant gospel and jazz. He is gift to the Church and the wider world.” The Rev. Laura Foster Gettys "No matter how well you think you know a piece of music, Scott will find some way to make it new for you. He is part magician, part musician.” Dawn Roberts
